Karahi Chicken


Ingredients:

Marinating ingredients for chicken:
  • 4 lbs. whole chicken
  • 2 tablespoons freshly ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons freshly ground garlic
  • 3 tablespoon cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoon sour cream
Spices:
  • 1 tablespoon of crushed chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
Other/Garnish:
  • 7 tablespoons crushed tomatoes
  • 1 big onion (sliced)
  • chopped cilantro
  • 1 chopped green chili







Directions:

Cut the whole chicken in to 14 pieces, and marinate it with the marinating ingredients for up to an hour.

Pour 1/3 cup cooking oil and place the chicken in a non-stick deep pan, and cook on medium-high heat.


After 10 minutes, turn all the chicken pieces. Then put the lid on the pan for 20 minutes.

Take off the lid, to let the water dry out, and keep turning the chicken pieces every 5 minutes until all the water has dried out, and oil has separated.

Then put all the spices, and gently mix it.

Put in the crushed tomatoes and gently mix.












Place the sliced onions and chopped cilantro and green chili and mix gently. Turn off the heat.

Your delicious karahi chicken is ready to serve! Enjoy with roti or naan.
